Independent Pronouns
Learn the words for I, you, he, she, we, and they.
Pronouns that stand alone
These pronouns are called independent because they are separate words rather than endings attached to a noun, verb, or preposition.

Singular and plural you
Use nta for one man, nti for one woman, and ntuma for a group. Compare huwa (“he”) with huma (“they”).
Practice
Point to yourself, one person, and a group while choosing the matching pronoun. Review nta, nti, and ntuma until you can distinguish them without looking.
Reading guide
Transliteration key: 3 = ع, 7 = ح, sh = ش, kh = خ, gh = غ. A dot under a consonant marks an emphatic consonant. Latin spellings are reading aids; they do not fully capture pronunciation.
