Saying Thank You
Practice a simple thank-you and its response.
A short exchange
| English | Darija | Arabic |
|---|---|---|
| Thank you. | shukran. | شكرا. |
| You are welcome. | bla jmil. | بلا جميل. |
Use the pair together
Read shukran as one speaker and bla jmil as the reply. Then switch roles so that you practice both parts.
Practice
Think of a small favor, such as someone handing you a book. Say the thank-you, then practice the response. Repeat without looking.
Reading guide
Transliteration key: 3 = ع, 7 = ح, sh = ش, kh = خ, gh = غ. A dot under a consonant marks an emphatic consonant. Latin spellings are reading aids; they do not fully capture pronunciation.
